From about 2007 to about 2014, a local radio talk show host in the Monterey/Salinas market had me on regularly to discuss economic issues. His name is Mark Carbonaro. Bit by bit, Mark became a friend and we sometimes had coffee and talked. One of our conversations led to this interview below, recorded in May 2012.
In it, I recount 2 instances in which I stood on principle at the risk of losing wealth. In the first, I was 40 and it worked out without my losing wealth. In the second one, I was 17 and I DID lose wealth.
At the end, I use these incidents to get to why I don’t like lifeboat situations in ethics.
Also note the reference to Dollar stores, something I recently posted about at EconLog.
